Happy at Home Partnership Project

Happy at Home is a five year Big Lottery Funded project. Its aim is to help older, rurally isolated residents to access available local services, and as a result, feel happier about living in their own homes for longer.

The Happy at Home Partnership will help elderly and vulnerable people to;

  • Become less isolated
  • Enjoy a stronger sense of community
  • Find it easier  to access information, services and support
  • Enjoy healthier lifestyles through leisure or social activities
  • Increase feelings of safety and well-being in their own homes
  • Experience an enhanced quality of life around the issues of; warmth, safety, security and energy efficiency, in their own homes.

This is a partnership project with Daventry Volunteer Bureau.

(more details of the project on

It will take on the work previously done under the DASH project in the Daventry District, and the Safe and Sound project in South Northants. Nicola Toms will co-ordinate the project. She will be recruiting new volunteers from the villages to support the project, and is looking forward to working with a number of partner organisations.

Road show events to exchange information and advice will be held during the year, bringing together partner organisations working with the rural communities.

The project is especially looking for a volunteer in Bugbrooke on a Friday to attend the Bugbrooke Community Café (where lunches are held for the elderly) to meet and greet older people and provide ‘Information Packs’ and signpost elderly people to appropriate local services, where appropriate.
